Cage Type and Size Requirements
When considering the appropriate housing for 1-2 budgerigars, it is essential to provide them with a cage that meets their basic needs for comfort and well-being. The recommended minimum cage size for a budgerigar enclosure is 60 x 40 x 40cm.
It is important to note that budgerigars have a natural flight pattern that is more horizontal, moving from side to side, rather than vertical, such as flying upwards or downwards. Therefore, selecting a cage that allows for sufficient horizontal flying space is crucial to promote their natural behaviour and overall health.
One commonly used cage type for budgerigars is a Flight Cage. This type of cage provides ample space for budgerigars to move around, stretch their wings, and engage in short flights within the enclosure. Flight Cages typically offer the necessary horizontal space to accommodate the budgerigars' natural flight patterns.

Never use Round Cages For your pet Birds
Round cages are generally considered less suitable for housing budgerigars due to several reasons. Firstly, budgerigars naturally seek out corners as hiding spots and feel more secure in enclosed spaces. Round cages lack corners, which can lead to feelings of vulnerability and even depression in these birds.
Secondly, round cages often have more height than width. Budgerigars are active and agile birds that require horizontal space for flying and movement. A rectangular or square cage provides them with a better layout for engaging in natural flying patterns, exploring their surroundings, and exercising their wings.
Furthermore, round cages can limit the placement of essential accessories and perches. Budgerigars rely on various perches and toys to maintain their physical and mental stimulation. The curved walls of a round cage may not accommodate these items effectively, limiting the bird's enrichment opportunities.
Overall, rectangular and square cages offer a more suitable and enriching environment for budgerigars. They provide corners for hiding, ample horizontal space for flying, and greater flexibility in arranging perches and toys. By choosing a cage that aligns with the natural instincts and needs of budgerigars, you are ensuring their well-being, happiness, and overall quality of life.
Perches & Leafy Branchs
Natural perches, such as branches sourced from Native Australian Trees, provide numerous benefits for birds. These branches serve as excellent options for avian perching. Birds can chew on them, allowing them to engage in natural behavior and also providing stimulation. Additionally, the branches offer surfaces for birds to rub their faces and feathers against during moulting, aiding in the maintenance of their plumage.
One significant advantage of natural branches is that they contribute to the regular trimming of birds' claws and beaks. Unlike dowel perches, which have a uniform diameter, natural perches offer varying widths, promoting natural foot movement and providing a more diverse perching experience. Relying solely on dowel perches can lead to weakened claws in birds and may make them susceptible to developing bumblefoot, a painful condition.
Nevertheless, it is important to note that as long as a variety of natural perches are available, having a single dowel perch generally poses no harm to birds. However, incorporating natural branches into their environment is highly beneficial and supports their overall well-being.
At our shop, we prioritize the well-being of birds with our premium natural branch perches. We believe in providing high-quality options that mimic birds' natural habitat, allowing them to thrive and enjoy a fulfilling life. Our carefully sourced branches replicate their native surroundings, promoting physical and psychological well-being. With varied widths, birds can engage in natural behaviors, maintain their beaks and claws, and exercise their feet. Enhance your bird's life with our authentic and beneficial natural perches available at our shop.

For the flooring of your budgerigar's cage, we highly recommend using newspapers as a suitable option. Newspapers are readily available at your local newsagency and offer several advantages for maintaining a clean and hygienic living environment for your feathered companion.
Newspapers are easily replaceable, allowing for regular cleaning and ensuring that your budgerigar's cage remains fresh and sanitary. Budgerigars, like all birds, thrive in a clean and well-maintained habitat, and providing them with a clean living environment is essential for their overall health and well-being.
Using newspapers as cage flooring enables convenient cleanup and prevents the accumulation of waste materials. You can simply remove the soiled newspapers and replace them with fresh ones, promoting a hygienic and comfortable space for your budgerigar.
Additionally, newspapers are cost-effective and widely accessible, making them a practical choice for cage flooring. They provide a smooth surface for your budgerigar to walk on and are easy to handle during the cleaning process.
By choosing newspapers as the flooring material for your budgerigar's cage, you are prioritizing their cleanliness and creating an environment that supports their optimal health and happiness. Regular replacement of the newspapers ensures a fresh and inviting living space for your budgerigar, allowing them to thrive in a clean and hygienic environment.
